A Classical evening in Clarens

 

N3TC SPONSORS THE CLASSICAL CONCERT AT THE CLARENS CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS

Clarens will be celebrating its Centenary in true style from 19 to 21 October. Clarens Tourism is one of the members of N3 Gateway Tourism Association, which is currently solely funded by N3 Toll Concession.

N3 Toll Concession is excited to be the sponsor of the Classical Concert which will take place at Brambleberry Restaurant in the Clarens Golf and Trout Estate on Friday 19th October. The concert will include a combination of piano, violins and flutes. The performance should be highly entertaining and performed by local classical musicians.

There is plenty happening during the Clarens Centenary Celebrations weekend, such as adventure races in the Clarens conservation area; and food demonstrations by popular Afrikaans entertainer and comedian, Lizz Meiring. Visitors can also look forward to what Clarens is well known for, art. There will be plenty of art exhibited at the town’s art galleries and exhibitions on display during the celebration as well as a craft market and kiddies entertainment.

Famous literary icons, like Jo-Ann Richards, Peter Badcock-Walters and Alexander Strachan will take part in the book festival at local book shop, Bibliophile. Anne Marie du Preez-Bezdrob, author of Winnie Mandela: a Life and The Nelson Mandela Story, as well as Sarajevo Roses, will share her stories with guests at the Rose High Tea taking place on the Friday afternoon.

Saturday’s activities will feature a horse commando, an early morning church service, the Dihlabeng Soapbox Derby and hot air balloon trips. Well-known South African entertainer and musician, Joseph Clark, will be on stage at the town square that evening.

Theatre lovers can look forward to sterling performances by Amanda Strydom and Hannes van Wyk in “Voor ek Vergeet”, while the highly-acclaimed Mafikeng Road, based on the book by Herman Charles Bosman, will also be a popular production.
