Route Maintenance is a vital component in the operation of the N3 Toll Route, ensuring that the freeway conforms to the prescribed engineering standards with a minimum disruption to the travelling public.
The purpose of the maintenance division of the N3 Toll Concession is to protect the travelled pavement and ensure that all other road furniture including vegetation control is of the highest standards thereby providing for a safe and convenient trip for all road users.
Maintenance work is carried out by PDE contractors with varying experience in maintenance. All the PDE contractors are supervised by N3TC, thereby directly controlling the productivity and standard of workmanship.
Response times are effectively managed due to the strategic location of the contractors along the entire route coupled with the maintenance department being situated in Harrismith.
